Anita Mathias
Brief Biography
Anita Mathias was born in India, has a B.A. and M.A. in English from Somerville College, Oxford University and an M.A. in Creative Writing from the Ohio State University.

Her essays have been published in The Washington Post, The London Magazine, The Virginia Quarterly Review, Commonweal, Notre Dame Magazine, America, The Christian Century, Religion Online, The Southwest Review, Contemporary Literary Criticism, New Letters, The Journal, ChristianGateway.com, WomanPrayers: Prayers by Women from throughout History and Around the World and two of HarperSanFrancisco's The Best Spiritual Writing anthologies. Her non-fiction has won fellowships from The National Endowment for the Arts; The Minnesota State Arts Board; The Jerome Foundation, The Vermont Studio Center; The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the First Prize for the Best General Interest Article from the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada.

Anita has taught Creative Writing at the College of William and Mary and at regional writers' conferences in the United States where she lived for seventeen years. She now lives and writes in Oxford, England with her husband, Roy, and daughters Zoe and Irene Mathias.
